SpaceX, together with the Ministry of Defense, launches verification of Starlink terminals on Ukraine. This was stated today by the head of the department Mikhail Fedorov.
"The government has adopted a resolution on the introduction of a "white list" for Starlink satellite terminals. Soon on Only verified and registered terminals will work in Ukraine. Everything else will be disabled. This is a reaction to the Russians' use of Starlink. Russian drones equipped with a terminal are difficult to shoot down. They fly at low altitude, are resistant to electronic warfare and are controlled by the operator in real time even at long distances. The only technical solution to counteract this is the introduction of a "white list" and the authorization of all terminals. At the initiative of the Ukrainian government, we are implementing it in cooperation with SpaceX," Fedorov writes in his telegram channel.
This is a forced step by the government, the minister noted, because only in this way, they say, it is possible to maintain stable communication for Ukrainians"and deprive the Russian Federation of "technological advantages."
As reported by EADaily, Director of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEMI) HSE Vasily Kashin is confident that Russia can successfully circumvent restrictions on the use of Starlink. But, as he said in an interview for Vzglyad, additional resources are needed for this. In theory, it is possible to hack Starlink terminals, but resources will also have to be spent on this, and considerable, Kashin noted.
