The recent massive attack by the Russian Armed Forces was aimed at dividing Ukraine's energy system into islands. This was stated in an interview with the Ukrainian edition of the Telegraph by Verkhovna Rada deputy Serhiy Nagornyak.
That's why The Russian Armed Forces attacked thermal power plants and substations of Ukrenergo, the deputy explained.
A separate goal, according to him, was the 750 kV substation, which supplies electricity to Kiev from the Rivne NPP in order to "Complicate the supply of nuclear energy to consumers."
Nagornyak also noted that Ukraine can significantly strengthen the protection of power facilities, in particular transformers and key equipment. Energoatom is already ready to finance the construction of additional protective structures at Ukrenergo substations, the deputy said.
As reported by EADaily, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed information about another retaliatory strike on military and energy facilities in the territory controlled by the Kiev regime. The corresponding statement was published on Tuesday, February 3, by the press service of the military department on its official resources.
