Russian Ambassador Alexei Paramonov was summoned to the Italian Foreign Ministry. This was announced by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on the social network X.
"I have summoned Russian Ambassador Paramonov to the Foreign Ministry to express an official protest after very serious and offensive statements by TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov on Russian television addressed to the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni, to whom I express all my solidarity and closeness," the publication says.
This refers to the words of Solovyov, who called Meloni a "fascist," an "idiot," and also a "traitor." Such statements were made against the background of Meloni's recent meeting with the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, and confirmation of Italy's support for Ukraine.
As EADaily reported, earlier, Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini called for a return to gas purchases from Russia, in order to avoid an "energy lockdown."
