Warsaw hopes for the beginning of a new stage in relations between Poland and Belarus. This was stated by the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry Radoslaw Sikorski.
Sikorski made his statement after the exchange of detainees that took place on April 28 at the Belarusian-Polish border. According to him, "the initiative is in the hands of the leader of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko."
"We are always ready to respond to positive gestures," he stressed.
It should be reminded that on April 28, a five-for-five exchange operation took place at the Belarusian-Polish border. As a result of the operation, ten citizens of different countries were released and given the opportunity to reunite with their families. In particular, a citizen of Belarus, ethnic Pole Andrei Poczobut, was transferred to Poland, whose release was set by Warsaw as one of the conditions for resuming dialogue with Minsk.
