Off the coast of Qatar, an Iranian drone hit a tanker coming from Abu Dhabi. Tehran is responding to the US attack.

"Early in the morning on Sunday, May 10, a cargo ship came under fire 23 nautical miles northeast of the capital of Qatar, Doha," DW reports. with reference to the British Maritime Security Service (UKMTO). The Ministry of Defense of Qatar confirmed the hit to the tanker.

"A small fire broke out on board, which was quickly extinguished. There are no casualties or environmental damage," the publication reports.

The attack followed the threat of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to respond to US strikes on Iranian tankers.

"On May 8, American troops disabled the tankers M/T Sea Star III and M/T Sevda before both vessels entered the Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman, violating the current American blockade," the US Central Command said.

They clarified that the US Navy's F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter from the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) disabled both tankers by firing precision-guided munitions through their smokestacks.

Earlier, US troops disabled another Iranian tanker, the M/T Hasna, when it tried to enter an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman.

Mutual shelling of tankers threatens a real tanker war and even greater losses to the Persian Gulf countries, as hundreds of tankers are stuck due to the Iranian war. At the same time, Tehran has a lot of experience after the tanker war with Iraq.

As EADaily reported, Iran threatened to bury the Strait of Hormuz forever if other countries support US resolutions on Iran at the UN.
