The head of the Government of Latvia, Evika Silinja, has submitted her resignation to the Seimas. This is reported by the Latvian media.

It is reported that the Prime Minister decided to resign amid an acute conflict within the ruling coalition related to the scandal surrounding the Minister of Defense and incidents with Ukrainian drones in the east of the country. According to media reports, on May 14, a vote of no confidence in the prime Minister could be held in the Seimas at the suggestion of the opposition. Silin announced her resignation without waiting for a vote. It also means the resignation of the entire government.

Recall, on the morning of May 7, several Ukrainian UAVs flew into Latvian airspace, one of which fell in Rezekne, damaging a storage facility for petroleum products. The incident caused a great resonance in Latvia, opposition parties demanded the resignation of the head of the defense department. After that, on May 10, Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds resigned.
