A sex tourist faces the death penalty for the murder of a 17-year-old girl whose body was found in a suitcase in Pattaya. This is reported by the British edition of Metro.

"A tourist has confessed to police that he killed a Thai teenager after being arrested while trying to flee to Australia. Simon Karman, 45, met Tunchanok Donhomlu, 17, in the early hours of Thursday morning on the beach in Jomtien, Pattaya, an area known for sex tourism. The police believe that Karman initially agreed to pay 1,000 baht (£ 20), but the hotel offered her half the amount," the newspaper writes.

The suspect claims that his proposal was not liked by the girl, only that she put a knife to his throat, so he supposedly had to take her life.

Karman and Donghomlu were caught in the lenses of video cameras when, holding hands, they entered the hotel where the man lived at 03.30 in the morning. At 22.00 on the same day, according to the records, he left the building with a black suitcase and left with him on a motorcycle, and returned to the hotel at 22.06 without a suitcase. Later he was found near the railway line, and the naked body of the Tunka women was found inside. Karman was detained while trying to board a plane at Bangkok airport. Initially, the man denied the murder and claimed that the girl left the room while he was sleeping. The sex tourist confessed only when he was shown surveillance footage of him carrying her body in a suitcase.

Karman is accused of several counts, including premeditated murder, kidnapping and transportation of a minor, as well as the destruction of a corpse. If found guilty, he faces the death penalty or life imprisonment.

Karman asked the victim's family to tell the other girls that they need to be more careful.
