Nizhnekamskneftekhim, a member of SIBUR Corporation, informed about the receipt of the first tons of hexene needed for the production of complex forms of polyethylene. This information became known at the ongoing in Kazan Petrochemical Forum. Mikhail Karisalov, General Director of SIBUR, informed Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of Tatarstan, about an important event for the company.
SIBUR has invested 23 billion rubles in the opening of a new production facility.
"Yesterday we released the first tons of hexene. We now have our own technology," Karisalov said.
Commissioning of new facilities will provide the country with 50 thousand tons of hexene, which will completely cover the needs of the domestic market and will make it possible to increase export supplies. Previously, Russia imported 100% of its products from the USA.
"Selling basic raw materials (ethylene and propylene — EADaily) is not an end in itself. The goal in itself is to provide the following high—margin redistribution, key monetization products. First of all, it is hexene," said Marat Falyakhov, CEO of Nizhnekamskneftekhim, earlier.
The production was founded in April 2023 and launched in the summer of 2025. Ethylene from the EP-600 complex will be used as raw material.
