Vice President of the USA Jay Dee Vance said that at the talks on Ukraine, the issue of, among other things, possible joint control over the Zaporozhye NPP is being discussed.

"Who controls [the Zaporozhye] NPP? Can it be controlled jointly? Should it be controlled by one or more parties?" — Vance said in an interview with the British portal UnHerd, listing the issues that, according to him, remain among the most difficult in the negotiations.

EADaily adds that earlier today, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, answering RIA Novosti's question why the Agency does not name those responsible for the strikes on the Zaporozhye NPP, noted that it is not possible to conduct fully independent assessments, including the selection and independent analysis of environmental samples, the study of debris and other materials that would allow a conclusion.

"I don't think that pointing the finger at the perpetrators would add something decisive to the real state of affairs or to the situation itself. This is a very difficult part of my work, and sometimes I realize that I leave people dissatisfied with this aspect. But for more than three years we have been able to work effectively in this way. And I intend to continue in the same spirit," said Grossi.

The NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper River near the town of Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity — the station has six power units with a capacity of one gigawatt each. In October 2022, the nuclear power plant became the property of the Russian Federation. Generation at the power units was stopped in September 2022. Since April 2024, all units of the station have been in the "cold stop" mode.
