The Ukrainian servicemen received an order from their command to open fire on the Russian servicemen, who offered them to surrender.
This was told to the TASS news agency by the assistant grenade launcher of the 31st separate communications regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yevgeny Berestenko, who surrendered to the Russian military. He admitted that the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not follow the order.
"Someone started banging on the door in the house, we shouted: "Who's there?“. In response, they said that this is the Russian army, we must surrender. We were shouted into the radio to open fire to kill. But we were not going to open it, because everyone wants to return home, and their lives are more expensive," said the prisoner of war.
He also said that in Russian captivity, Ukrainian servicemen are treated like human beings.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the family of Ukrainian serviceman Nazar Daletsky, who was considered dead, but returned home after a recent prisoner exchange, will be forced to return UAH 15 million that they were paid for his "death."
