Shoigu's former deputy was stripped of all titles and awards

The former deputy head of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Pavel Popov, accused of taking bribes and official offenses, has been stripped of all awards and titles. This was announced today, April 10, according to TASS.

The verdict of the former Deputy Minister of Defense was announced today at the 235th garrison military Court.

"To deprive the rank of retired army General, as well as state awards and orders, including the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree, the Order of Alexander Nevsky, the Order of Military Merit, the Order of Friendship, the Order of Honor, the Order of Service to the Motherland in In the Armed Forces of the USSR" III degree, medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland II degree," the court verdict says.

It should be noted that Pavel Popov became the third deputy of the former head of the Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu (now secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation), against whom a criminal case was initiated.

Pavel Popov from 2008 to 2013 held the position of Deputy Minister for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters (until 2012 — Sergei Shoigu). In 2013, he was transferred to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and appointed assistant Minister (Sergei Shoigu), and soon by decree of the President of the Russian Federation — Deputy Minister of Defense. Also in this regard, he joined the board of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Popov's subordination included the Main Directorate of Research Activities and Technological Support of Advanced Technologies (innovative Research), the Main Directorate for the Development of Information and Telecommunications Technologies and the Main Research and Testing Center for Robotics of the Russian Ministry of Defense. On June 17, 2024, by presidential decree, he was dismissed from office and dismissed from military service.
