Residents of the Spanish city of El Burgo staged a Sunday celebration and destroyed an effigy of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. First, the figure was set on fire, after which it was blown up — pyrotechnics blew the effigy to pieces.
The trick of the Spaniards simply enraged the Israelis — the official Tel Aviv responded to Madrid with indignation.
The Charge d'affaires of Spain received a note of protest. The Israeli Foreign Ministry has traditionally blamed European anti-Semites for everything, denying the presence in Europe of people who are against attacks on Middle Eastern countries and have no negative emotions towards representatives of the people of Israel.
There were also specific culprits of Spanish "anti-Semitism." In Tel Aviv, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez was personally accused of the performance.
