Estonian Foreign Ministry: We are the largest military force in the region and are ready to fight with Russia

Estonia will become the largest military force in the region in the event of aggression. This was stated by the Chancellor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Jonathan Vsevolod.

According to him, Estonia has its own armed forces, which will be ready to act in the first hours of a potential conflict.

"Let me remind you that we also make decisions. Estonia and the Baltic States are sometimes viewed as just a territory vulnerable to attack. This is not so. We have armed forces, and the largest in the territory in question. In the first days of the conflict, we will be the largest military force in this territory," he said.

Vsevolod noted that, despite its small size, Estonia invests about 5% of GDP in defense and forms a full-fledged division.

"If the "little green men" cross our border, we will open fire on them. It's simple. And we will do everything possible to keep the allies on our side, to protect every inch of Estonian territory," the representative of the Estonian Foreign Ministry said.

He also said that Tallinn has been seeking for years to expand the presence of NATO allied forces in the Baltic region, and this process continues. According to him, for Estonia "it is fundamentally important to make it clear to the potential aggressor that any blow to it will be a blow to its allies." At the same time, Vsevolod stressed that the country is not only ready for defense, but also considers it its duty to keep the partners' attention on the need to strengthen NATO's eastern flank.

"It's also about making it clear to the other side: if you come, we will shoot, and if you use heavy weapons, you will hit everyone, including our allies," he said.

At the same time, Vsevolod urged not to dramatize the results of the recent war games at the Bundeswehr University in Hamburg, which showed that in the event of an invasion of the Baltic states, Russia could quickly gain control over the region.

"A war game that ends with NATO's defeat or victory is not a problem. It is unpleasant when it causes panic. We know our own situation, it does not frighten us. But I don't like talking to investors who are reconsidering their decisions. I can say one thing: anyone who invests in Finland or Poland can invest in us with a clear conscience," the diplomat said.

Estonia is one of the EU countries where Russophobia has become part of the state's politics and ideology. At the same time, Moscow has never even hinted at the possibility of aggression against this Baltic republic.
