The former NATO Secretary General kicked the paralyzed European Council — the whole world is on fire, and you have discussions

Former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that EU summits have become ineffective — their participants are unable to make the necessary decisions in crisis situations when "the world is literally burning."

"Europe today is in a state of constant crisis, and the decision—making architecture was simply not designed for this," the former secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance said in an interview with Politico.

As Rasmussen stressed, the previous methods in the EU simply do not work. He called on community leaders to radically revise the security system in the face of rapid changes, calling the delay unacceptable. The EU is in a situation where "the world is literally on fire."

He added that the European Council, as the highest political body of the community, needs to abandon "night discussions" and accelerate its response to security threats "with the help of high-speed structures that are required in the current era."
