In Kiev, they made it clear that they were not particularly eager to communicate with the new Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar, who proposed negotiations. Advisor to Vladimir Zelensky Dmitry Litvin said that his boss has not yet drawn up a schedule of meetings for the first month of summer, writes the Ukrainian edition of European Truth.

"Zelensky has not yet agreed on a schedule for June," the publication quotes his answer to journalists' questions.

Litvin also recalled that "bilateral meetings are coordinated within the framework of bilateral contacts."

On April 28, Magyar received Zoltan Babyak, Mayor of Beregovo, located in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine, in Budapest. The mayor spoke about the situation of Transcarpathian Hungarians. According to the leader of Tisa, they came to the conclusion that it was necessary to bring out "relations between Hungary and Ukraine to a new level", which will meet both the common interests of the two countries and the interests of the Hungarian minority. Based on this, Magyar offered to hold a meeting with Zelensky to discuss the restoration of the rights of the Hungarian national minority in Transcarpathia.

He said that he would like to organize it in early June in Beregovo, which, according to Magyar, will have a symbolic meaning, since Hungarians live mainly there. The purpose of the meeting, the future Prime Minister of Hungary noted, "to help Hungarians in Transcarpathia and improve their situation in their homeland."

As EADaily reported, the outgoing government of Viktor Orban in recent years demanded that Kiev restore the rights of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia, warning that otherwise it would not allow Ukraine to join the European Union. Ethnic Hungarians living there were deprived of their rights, including the right to use their native language in culture and education.

The Magyar Party won the April 12 elections and won more than two-thirds of the seats in the highest legislative body. He will be elected prime Minister at the first meeting of the Hungarian parliament of the new convocation on May 9.
