President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, having considered the appeal of Lithuanian and Polish carriers, decided on the possibility of departure of cargo vehicles with Lithuanian registration. This was reported today, March 23, in The State Customs Committee of the Republic.
"These vehicles have been on the territory of Belarus since November 2025 due to the unfriendly actions of the Lithuanian side to close checkpoints on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border. Currently, more than 1,9 thousand vehicles, including tractors, trailers and semi-trailers, are located on specially equipped sites. Throughout the entire period, their complete safety was ensured, " the report says.
It is noted that "vehicles with Lithuanian registration will be able to leave the territory of Belarus through the Lithuanian direction in accordance with the legislation. Lithuanian vehicles actually owned by Polish carriers will be able to leave, including through the Polish direction, where the neighboring side is working more actively."
"The customs authorities have started work. As payment for storage is received from carriers, and it is now several times lower than previously determined, vehicles will be able to leave. The further speed of crossing the border depends on the actions of the Lithuanian side. Today, the State Customs Committee has sent a corresponding proposal to the Lithuanian Customs Service to increase the passage of trucks," the State Customs Committee of Belarus said.
In addition, according to the chairman of the State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky, the tariffs for parking trucks with Lithuanian registration were "significantly reduced"
"It is several times less than the one that was originally installed — it is minimal, based only on the costs incurred by the parking lot owner, ensuring the safety of vehicles," said the chairman of the SCC.
After each carrier pays for the storage of their vehicle, such a truck will be able to leave the site. For example, for the storage of a trailer or semi-trailer, the cost of storage is more than seven times different from the previously established tariff. If the coupling is complete — less than three times.
"That is, the tariff is such that it covers only the costs of the truck keeper directly," Orlovsky explained.
Speaking about whether there will be a collapse at the border, the chairman of the State Customs Committee noted that departure from Belarus to Lithuania and Poland will depend entirely on neighboring states.
"We are ready to give as many trucks for departure as the neighboring country will accept," he said.
Recall that trucks with Lithuanian registration were stuck in Belarus in the fall of 2025. The reason for this was the closure of the border by Vilnius. After that, all trucks were sent to guarded parking lots until the issue was resolved. Moreover, the Lithuanian side has not shown interest in its carriers, as a result of which in mid-March they asked Lukashenko for help.
